I grew up (debatably) in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in HEB (Hurst-Euless-Bedford… not the grocery store). There, I went to L.D. Bell High School… (Marching Band kids will know it as that stinkin’ awesome school that always wins state…. Football players know it as that rival school that always gets their butt kicked by the huge State-winning Trinity Trojans) Throughout high school I straddled the line between Athletics and choir-nerd-dom until my schedule finally made me choose only one. After my journey to the dark side was complete, I became involved in a Show Choir, Acappella Choir, and a barbershop quartet (very cool). It was in these choirs that I met my wife, Mrs. Urbanek, who teaches World History here at BHS. (So hint hint guys, Choir… it’s where the honeys bee)

I went to college at Texas A&M University where I earned a degree in music composition while at the same time teaching part time at BHS as a private voice instructor. After graduating, I taught elementary music at Kemp for a year, later moving to Rayburn Middle School to teach choir for 2 great years. Stepping up, I am looking forward to be working at the High School again and to an awesome year.

Currently, aside from teaching, I am also a worship leader/choir director at Grace Bible Church and enjoy a freakishly large array of hobbies ranging from song writing to precision rifle and pistol shooting.
